Kirsten Corley officially filed for divorce from Chance the Rapper on Friday, December 13

Chance the Rapper and Kirsten Corley have officially filed for divorce, marking the end of their relationship after years together. Corley filed for divorce from the 31-year-old musician on December 13, following their announcement of separation earlier this year. TMZ was the first to report the news.

The couple had previously shared a joint statement on Instagram in April, where they confirmed their decision to part ways. “After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways,” they wrote. “We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time spent together.”

The pair share two daughters, Kensli (9) and Marlie (5), though the court filing did not specify whether Corley was seeking child support. In their April statement, they expressed plans to continue co-parenting their children.

Chance (whose real name is Chancelor Bennett) and Corley’s relationship began when they first met at an office party when Chance was just nine years old. They reconnected at the Southwest Film Festival in 2012 and began dating soon after. In September 2015, they welcomed their first child, daughter Kensli, although they briefly split in 2016 when Corley filed a petition for child support. However, the filing was withdrawn in early 2017 after they reconciled, and Chance thanked Corley and their daughter while accepting a Grammy award the following month.

The couple married in March 2019 after Chance proposed during a Fourth of July backyard party in 2018. Their wedding, held in Newport Beach, California, featured several of Chance’s A-list friends, including Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and Dave Chappelle. In August 2019, they welcomed their second daughter, Marlie, and Chance took a break from touring to spend more time with his growing family.

The couple spent much of the COVID-19 pandemic together with their daughters, and Chance later described the time as filled with games, dancing, and watching cartoons.
