Kristin Cavallari recently opened up about the difficulties she’s faced in co-parenting with her ex-husband, Jay Cutler, during her appearance on the Dumb Blonde podcast. She discussed the ups and downs of their relationship and reflected on the messy nature of their split. Cavallari and Cutler were married from 2013 to 2020, and they share three children: Camden, 12, Jaxon, 10, and Saylor, 9.
“It’s really hard,” Cavallari admitted when talking about their co-parenting situation. She explained that things haven’t been easy, especially because Cutler has brought “zero f–king consistency” to their arrangements. She described their dynamic as a “bumpy road” with plenty of challenges.
Despite these struggles, Cavallari shared a moment of progress from earlier this year. She and Cutler managed to sit together at their son’s basketball game without any drama. She recalled the experience fondly, saying, “We sat together at a basketball game earlier this year, and I was like, ‘Holy f–k, this is the best thing that’s ever happened. Jesus Christ, we made it. We can sit next to each other.’” However, she admitted that such moments are rare, adding that she couldn’t even remember the last time they sat together peacefully.
The Hills star also expressed concerns about future family holidays. While she acknowledged the pain of not having a traditional family unit during Christmas, she made it clear that she doesn’t want to reconcile with Cutler. She referred to their past relationship as toxic, but she also recognized that there were positive aspects to it. Despite everything, Cavallari said she doesn’t regret anything about their time together. She also drew a comparison between her relationship with Cutler and her relationship with her father, who she described as narcissistic.
During the podcast, Cavallari addressed rumors that Cutler had an affair with her former friend and Very Cavallari co-star, Kelly Henderson. She admitted that she once had doubts about the rumors, especially when Cutler would speak badly about her. She said that now, looking back, she believes that when a guy trashes a woman, there’s probably something going on.
Though Cavallari has moved on from her marriage, she shared that she never received an apology from Cutler—and she doesn’t expect one. Despite this, she has found a way to forgive him. She explained that she can have empathy for him and forgive him without needing him to be part of her life.
