Kylian Mbappe has framed Lionel Messi’s 2018 World Cup jersey in his home

For those who witnessed it, Argentina vs. France in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 was an absolute rollercoaster. Seven goals were scored in the game, which took place in Russia’s Kazan Arena, as France defeated the South Americans 4-3.

The match was remarkable in many ways, from French right-back Benjamin Pavard’s “Goal of the tournament” to Argentina’s Angel Di Maria’s volley in the first half. It also marked Kylian Mbappe’s rise as a football star, as he scored twice. Many found it more remarkable since he outperformed football great Lionel Messi, who had two assists.

The mother of Kylian Mbappe, Fayza Lamari,  reveals in a video that has gone viral that Lionel Messi’s jersey from that match is framed in their home. Mbappe and Messi exchanged jerseys following the spectacular match that eliminated Argentina from the World Cup.

The video shows that, even though Mbappe considered Cristiano Ronaldo his childhood idol and inspiration, he has the utmost respect for Lionel Messi.

While Mbappe went on to win that World Cup, Lionel Messi had his ‘ revenge’ in 2022, when Argentina won the World Cup for the third time – Lionel Messi’s first – in 36 years.

Mbappe and Messi also played together for two seasons at French club Paris Saint Germain, where they won two league titles and one Trophees des Champions, the French edition of the Super Cup.
