Lakers’ LeBron James to change his jersey number back to 6, Anthony Davis to stay 3

LeBron James who currently wears number 23 will be switching his jersey number back to 6. This is expected to happen after the release of “Space Jam: A New Legacy”, next month.

King James wore the No. 6 when he won two championships in 2012 and 2013 with Miami Heat. He changed into No. 23 when he went back to Cleveland. He chose 23 while joining the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to what sources told to The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Timo Cato, Lakers’ forward Anthony Davis is expected to remain the same as No. 3. He wore No. 23 earlier when he played for the New Orleans Pelicans for seven seasons, and with the Kentucky Wildcats winning a national championship with the jersey. He chose to wear 3 when he was signed in for the defending champions, who got knocked out in the playoffs for this season by The Phoenix Suns.

When AD joined the Lakers in 2019 summer, LeBron James welcomed him by giving his jersey number 23 because he had previously worn this digit and to switch to number 6 which James wore for Miami Heat. He conferred Davis with the jersey 23 and posted it on his social media, but Nike had already printed a lot of 23 number jerseys of “LeBron James” so he couldn’t get the digit and instead wore 3.
