Actor Lakshmi Manchu has spoken candidly about love, marriage and the lessons that shaped her as a woman. Appearing on Nikhil Vijayendra Simha’s podcast, Lakshmi reflected on her personal journey and said the most powerful love she has ever felt is not for her husband, Andy Srinivasan, but for her daughter.
When asked about her love life, Lakshmi smiled before saying, “I am madly, deeply, intensely in love… but it is a love as a mother. Nothing I have experienced before comes close.” She explained that she grew up being taught to “worship men” and to behave a certain way around them, but she no longer feels bound by those beliefs. “I’ve crossed that phase,” she said, adding that she is finally content with who she has become.
Addressing her long-distance marriage, Lakshmi clarified that she does not feel lonely or longing despite Andy living in the US while she and their daughter, Vidya Nirvana, are based in Mumbai. “I don’t miss anything, especially being with a man,” she said firmly. She added that she visits Andy often and that co-parenting Vidya remains the couple’s primary focus. “We are a nuclear family unit. Beyond that, nothing else should matter.”
Lakshmi married Andy, an IT professional from Chennai, in 2006 after years of dating. Their daughter was born in 2014 through surrogacy. Although the couple lives in different countries, they continue to spend time together during Vidya’s school breaks.
On the work front, Lakshmi appeared in Adiparvam, Daksha and the JioCinema series Yakshini, and also participated in The Traitors on Prime Video this year.
