The Lanka Premier League (LPL) will host its second season immediately after India’s white-ball tour to Sri Lanka consisting of three ODI’s and Two T20I matches finishing on July 27. The Sri Lankan league will be held from July 30 to August 22.
“We have found a suitable window to hold this year’s edition, whilst we are currently working on finalising the other details of the tournament,” said Professor Arjuna de Silva, the chairman of SLC’s management committee.
The Inaugural season was played between November 26 to December 16. All the23 match fixtures were set in Hambantota, followed by proper bio-bubble guidelines. The Jaffna Stallions defeated Galle Gladiators in the finals to lift the title.
However, the Sri Lankan Cricket management made it clear that they will be discussing the country’s situation with the Ministry of Health about the COVID-19 crisis before taking any final decision on the tournament.
“assess the country’s situation and discuss with the Ministry of Health closer to the tournament to ascertain the health situation in the country prior to taking a final decision on the competition,” SLC stated.
