FC Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has said that the club will be implementing changes in the upcoming season after this disappointing 2020-21 campaign. Barcelona will be finishing third in La Liga after ex-Barca player, Luis Suarez fired Atletico Madrid to the top position and Real Madrid slipped to the second position. Barca was behind their arch-rivals for the majority of the season.
Barcelona won the Copa del Rey in this campaign but was knocked out of UEFA Champions League in the last 16 by Paris Saint Germain. This has not been the best season for the Catalan team and the position of current coach, Ronald Koeman is also under threat as former Barcelona midfielder, Xavi is being linked to the post of manager in the upcoming season.
” We won the Copa del Rey and we’re proud of that but we were knocked out of the Champions League very soon and we threw away the league from a very promising position, so in the upcoming weeks, a series of decisions will be announced in the weeks”, Laporta, who returned for a second spell in charge at the Camp Nou Stadium in March.
Barcelona will be needing some changes in their squad and administration to tackle the turmoil that they are in right now and earn everybody’s trust again in the upcoming season.
