Joan Laporta appears to have changed his mind over whether he wants Barcelona to be involved in the European Super League.
The Catalan club, which he now presides over, are one of 12 teams to have announced their decision to break away from the Champions League.
However, Laporta has just said “Barcelona will not join the super league until our socios vote for it. It’s their club, so it’s their decision.”
Socios are the members of Barcelona that have elected a club president and vote for major decisions in the clubs history. Nonetheless, Barcelona is one of the clubs who would gain the most benefit from joining the league, as they are in a billion dollar debt due to poor management from the previous board.
