Leonardo Bonucci is out of the Juventus squad, free to leave club this summer

Leonardo Bonucci, a star defender for Juventus, is expected to be on the market this summer after reportedly being dropped from the team’s future plans.

Juventus’ new Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli’s first big move at the club was to remove the club’s captain from the rebuilding process. According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport and other sources, Giuntoli personally told Bonucci that he is not part of their plans and would be dropped as a technical decision.

Bonucci is expected to be on sale and free to go this summer if he wants to play a more crucial role somewhere and keep his position as Italy’s captain ahead of next year’s Euros.

Aside from his short season-long stay in Milan, Bonucci has spent most of his playing career with Juventus. In the past, he has expressed a desire to make his 500th appearance for the team this next season and has stated that he would retire at the end of the 2023–24 season. But it appears that the latest turn of events will stop him from achieving his goal.

Juventus had an awful season as a team and ended seventh in the league, which was their poorest finish over the last decade.
