Lil Wayne announces Tha Carter VI release date in a quirky Super Bowl commercial

Lil Wayne is officially gearing up for the release of Tha Carter VI, the highly anticipated sixth installment of his legendary album series, set to drop on June 6, 2025. While details about the project remain scarce, excitement is already brewing as the rap icon prepares to continue a saga he launched two decades ago.

Wayne recently hinted at his new album in a Super Bowl commercial for Cetaphil, where he playfully addressed being left out of the Halftime Show lineup. The ad, which carries the tagline “We’re all a Lil sensitive,” features the rapper reacting to the snub with humor. Some fans speculate that this might be a subtle nod to his feelings about not being chosen to perform—especially since Super Bowl LIX will be held in his hometown, New Orleans. At the end of the commercial, a sign on his door reads: “Do Not Disturb ‘Til 06-06-25. Carter VI.”

Despite the speculation, Wayne has made it clear that there are no hard feelings toward Kendrick Lamar, who will headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show alongside SZA. Speaking on The Skip Bayless Show in December, he shared that he personally reached out to Lamar to wish him well, saying, “I told him he better kill it.”

The Tha Carter series has been a cornerstone of Lil Wayne’s career since he dropped the first album in 2004. He followed up with Tha Carter II in 2005, Tha Carter III in 2008, and Tha Carter IV in 2011. However, Tha Carter V faced significant delays and was eventually released in September 2018, four years after its originally planned debut.

Wayne has remained active in the music scene since Tha Carter V. His last solo album, Funeral, arrived in January 2020, followed by his 2023 collaboration with 2 Chainz, Welcome 2 Collegrove. Over the years, he has also worked with artists like Tyler, The Creator, Tyga, and Nicki Minaj.

With Tha Carter VI now officially on the way, fans are eager to see how Wayne will evolve his sound and legacy in this next chapter of his career.
