Lily-Rose Depp recalled feeling upset over what The Idol director Sam Levinson

Lily-Rose Depp recently reflected on the challenges she faced while working on the controversial HBO series The Idol during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. The series, co-created by Sam Levinson, drew significant criticism, particularly regarding its explicit sexual content and the chaotic production process that included rewrites and reshoots. Depp, however, expressed strong support for Levinson, who she described as a close friend and someone she considers family.

Depp revealed that the most upsetting part of her experience was hearing people talk negatively about Levinson, particularly since she felt deeply supported by him and his wife Ashley, who also worked on the show as a producer. Despite the harsh criticism directed at Levinson’s direction, Depp defended him, stating that he was the best director she had ever worked with and that she felt “seen, heard, and appreciated” on set.

The The Idol production faced backlash due to alleged claims by crew members about Levinson’s focus on increasing sexual content, which some felt overshadowed the show’s intended message. However, Depp rejected these claims, saying they were far from the truth and expressing disappointment over the negative remarks about her friend.

Currently, Depp is starring in Nosferatu, a gothic horror drama directed by Robert Eggers, which also features Bill Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corrin, and Nicholas Hoult. The film, based on a tale of obsession and horror, is highly anticipated by fans.
