Lionel Messi gets into heated confrontation in the tunnel with rival player; Watch

Lionel Messi continues to shine in his new home at Inter Miami, netting another brace with 2 volleys to help Inter Miami defeat Orlando City 3-1 and advance to the League Cup quarterfinals. Both Messi goals were well-executed, with the Argentine finding space in the box and firing volleys past the goalkeeper, first with his left boot and then with his right.

However, in an aggressive match, Messi played with an energy and mentality that the Argentine very rarely shows. Orlando tried a new strategy to stop Messi, who has scored in every game since his Miami debut.

Orlando’s players fouled Messi on many occasions while attempting to challenge him physically. This was hardly the first time Messi has been targeted by opposing defenders, but it seemed to have gotten on his nerves. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner cut a frustrated image at times throughout the contest.

In the 83rd minute, Messi was seen having heated words with Orlando’s Felipe Martins, who had to be separated by Miami forward Leonardo Campana. It lasted till the end of the game. During halftime, Messi was seen mouthing a few things to an Orlando player as the two sides made their way to the players’ tunnel at the DRV PNK Stadium.
