Argentina’s World Cup winner may have thought he wouldn’t be as well-known in the United States as he is in Europe, but it appears he’ll still struggle to go down the street without being surrounded by fans. The 36-year-old appeared to be in high spirits while doing his grocery shopping in his new home in Miami, smiling for many selfies with fans who may have been surprised to see one of football’s greats loading his shopping trolley with supermarket items.

Prior to his official debut as an Inter Miami player, Messi is adapting to life in the United States. The club is preparing to revamp its 18,000-capacity DRV PNK Stadium ahead of the former Barcelona star’s MLS debut in an effort to take advantage of the huge amount of interest in him. Following the signing of Messi, attendance is expected to increase and footage of Inter Miami’s new star’s arrival in the United States is adding to the excitement.
Despite Messi’s arrival, Inter Miami has had a challenging season so far. After the sacking of former boss Phil Neville, the team now ranks at the bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference, with only 18 points from 21 games. They’ll be hoping that the arrival of maybe the greatest player in football history will be just what they require to bring them to the top of the table.
