Inter Miami, Lionel Messi’s next club, stated on Friday that it will hold a presentation event called ‘The Unveil’ on July 16 at its home stadium.
Seven-time Argentine Winner of the Ballon d’Or Messi said last month that he will join the Major League Soccer team once his contract with Paris Saint-Germain gets expired.
“The major unveiling event will include exciting entertainment, speeches on the pitch and more,” the club said in a press statement that did not specifically reference Messi.
Messi, who lifted the World Cup with Argentina in December, is anticipated to be accompanied in Miami by Sergio Busquets, a former Barcelona teammate and ex-Spain international midfielder and the duo might be presented together.
Former Barcelona and Argentina coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino was recently selected as the manager of the team.
Messi is set to make his MLS debut on July 21 against Mexican club Cruz Azul in the new Leagues Cup, a tournament involving top MLS and Mexican league clubs.
Jorge Mas, the majority owner of Inter Miami, has stated that the club may make “three to five signings” during the current transfer window.
Inter Miami is last in the Eastern Conference and ranked 28th of 29 clubs in the league.
