Liverpool outclass Chelsea 4-1 to move five points clear

Liverpool are on track to send Jurgen Klopp off as Premier League champions after defeating Chelsea 4-1 at Anfield on Wednesday. The 20-year-old right-back Conor Bradley stole the show as he scored and set up goals for Dominik Szoboszlai and Diogo Jota. Christopher Nkunku cut Chelsea’s arrears, but Luis Diaz sealed the victory and a spectacular Liverpool performance.

Victory keeps Liverpool’s five-point advantage at the top of the league over Manchester City, who have a game in hand and Arsenal. Arsenal play Liverpool on Sunday.

Once again, the injured Mohamed Salah was hardly missed as Jota and Nunez posed a continuous threat, while Bradley’s rise is blocking Trent Alexander-Arnold’s return to the starting lineup.

Nunez had five attempts in the opening eighteen minutes, but the Uruguayan was kept at bay twice by Djordje Petrovic and the woodwork. Jota was not so forgiving as he carved through the Chelsea defence to score on 23 minutes.

Ever since Alexander-Arnold’s knee injury opened his door for the first team, Bradley has been nothing short of extraordinary. The Northern Irishman ran down the right and fired low and hard into the far corner, doubling Liverpool’s advantage.

Chelsea remains in 10th place, 20 points behind Liverpool, following their defeat.
