Liverpool’s midfield rebuild is well underway after the Reds made a significant investment in what could be the final piece of the puzzle.
As per The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Liverpool has agreed to pay a record-breaking fee of 110 million pounds to sign talented midfielder Moises Caicedo from Brighton, surpassing Premier League rivals Chelsea, who reportedly bid around 100 million for the youngster.
The deal would break the club’s transfer record of £75 million for Virgil van Dijk. It also breaks the British record fee, which was previously held by Chelsea when they spent £107 million on Enzo Fernandez.

Personal terms between Caicedo and Liverpool have still to be agreed upon, but are considered to be a formality, with a medical planned for Friday.
During last season’s January transfer window, Premier League rivals Arsenal showed an interest in signing the Ecuadorian from Brighton, making a 70 million pound bid.
However, Brighton’s management stood hard and declined the offer, only to enjoy the advantages now. They set a deadline for midnight on Thursday and if their valuation was met, they would go with the highest bidder.
Arsenal moved on from Caicedo when they made a major bid to get Englishman Declan Rice from West Ham United, but this left the door open for others to come in and sign the talented Ecuadorian this summer. Chelsea were the first to take their chances.
Chelsea were looking short in the midfield, which prompted the Blues to go after Caicedo. However, their pursuit seems to have been rudely interrupted when Liverpool made a last-minute bid to take away the youngster from Chelsea.
