Liverpool set up Carabao Cup final vs Chelsea after defeating Fulham

Once again, Liverpool take on Chelsea. After facing each other in back-to-back domestic championships in 2022, the rivalry will be renewed on February 25 at Wembley Stadium, with the English League Cup on the line.

Liverpool advanced to the semifinals with a 3-2 aggregate win against Fulham on Wednesday, setting up a rematch with Chelsea.

Liverpool grabbed the victory at Craven Cottage after leading 2-1 in the first leg against Fulham. Luis Diaz’s 11th-minute strike proved crucial in the tie, as Fulham equalised in the 76th minute with Issa Diop.

Chelsea advanced to the final after defeating second-division Middlesbrough 6-1 on Tuesday to seal a 6-2 aggregate victory.

Liverpool won the League Cup two years ago, defeating Chelsea on penalties after a goalless draw in the final. It completed a trophy double over the Londoners that season, winning on penalties in the FA Cup final after another 0-0 draw.

However, after the team lost the Premier League title on the last day of the season and was defeated by Real Madrid in the Champions League final, Klopp’s dreams of completing a quadruple in 2022 came to an end.

His team is now back in trophy contention after finishing the last season empty-handed and losing out on qualification for the Champions League.
