The Indian multinational pharmaceuticals company, Lupin announced on Thursday that it is entering the segment of digital healthcare in India. Its focus under digital healthcare will be to provide a digital therapeutics platform linking doctors and patients. The board of directors of the company have given their approval for the move, Lupin said.
The Mumbai based pharma company made the announcement in a regulatory filing. “The board of directors has approved the company’s entry into the digital healthcare space,” it said in its filing. For this purpose, the company has incorporated a new entity called- Lupin Digital Health Limited. The newly created entity will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lupin Limited and will undertake the company’s venture in digital healthcare.
More details regarding the new entity have not been made public by Lupin.
Founded by Desh Bandhu Gupta in the year 1968, Lupin earned a revenue of about Rs 15,858.50 in 2020. Lupin is among the largest pharmaceuticals company in the world in terms of revenue. On Thursday, as of 12:42 PM, the company’s share was down by 0.29% reaching Rs 1243.30 on the Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE).
