Maha Kumbh 2025: How Many Lost Devotees Were Reunited with Their Families in Prayagraj?

The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government’s efforts resulted in the successful reunion of over 54,000 individuals who had been separated from their loved ones at the recently finished Maha Kumbh mela in Prayagraj.

54,357 people who had been split up from their families were reunited with them, according to a release, despite the fact that many devotees were separated from their loved ones. A sizable portion were female. Reuniting devotees and their families from other Indian and Nepalese states was another important function of the police.

Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh hosted the Maha Kumbh 2025, one of the biggest Hindu festivals worldwide, on the banks of Sangam. The occasion united more than 66 crore followers worldwide in a celebration of dedication, faith, and solidarity.

To guarantee the event’s safety and smooth operation, the Yogi government took a number of admirable steps during the big Maha Kumbh Mela. The creation of the Digital Khoya Paya Kendra, which made it easier for over 35,000 separated devotees and their families to quickly reunite, was one of the major highlights.

Women made up a substantial percentage of those reunited, and the Uttar Pradesh police, according to the administration, were essential in making sure that people from various Indian states as well as Nepal were located and returned to their families. The reunion of 19,274 missing people with their families, including all 18 missing children, was made possible in large part by NGOs such as Bharat Seva Kendra and Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Smriti Samiti, which was headed by Umesh Chandra Tiwari, Director of Bharat Seva Kendra’s Bhoole Bhatke Camp.

There were 598 reunions during the Amrit Snan Parv on Makar Sankranti (January 13–15), 8,725 reunions during Mauni Amavasya (January 28–30), and 864 reunions during Basant Panchami (February 2-4). By the end of Mahakumbh, it noted, 35,083 people had been reunited, including 24,896 who had been split up during earlier bathing festivities and on ordinary days.

Millions of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world flocked to participate in this holy event during the big Maha Kumbh Mela, which was held after 144 years. The devotees expressed their sincere gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for this kind move after the reunions at these centres were a great success.
