Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Nana Patole resigns

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Nana Patole on Thursday stepped down from his post. He handed over his resignation letter to Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal. Nana Patole is tipped to be the next chief of the state unit of the Congress.

Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal, while responding to Patole’s resignation, said, “Nana will progress and he will be promoted.”

Patole is also the MLA from Sakoli in Bhandara district. He is soon likely to replace revenue minister, Balasaheb Thorat as state Congress president, according to party sources.

Meanwhile, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that the appointment of the next Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly will have to be discussed amoung partners of Maha Vikas Aghadi.
