Today, on 25th June, Maharashtra has become the first state to administer a total of three crore coronavirus vaccines. The achievement comes in the wake of the major push given to the vaccination drive by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray led by Maha Vikas Aghadi government, especially to prevent the looming threat of the spread of the Delta Plus variant of Coronavirus.
State Health Minister Rajesh Tope said in an event which was organized by NCP that, “Vaccine availability is not an issue now. We have almost administered over three crore doses so far, and with this increased pace, Maharashtra can now vaccinate its entire eligible population in the next three months.”
He also added that, “Maharashtra has the capacity to administer 10 lakh doses per day. If the Union government increases its supply to match the state’s capacity, we can vaccinate the entire population in three months.”
As on Friday afternoon, Maharashtra had administered a round of 3,00,27,217 vaccine doses. Tope also mentioned that he has requested Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar to increase the budget allocation for the health department.
There is a scope to increase number of primary healthcare centres, rural hospitals and sub-centres, the minister said, and by adding that the state health department has decided to fill all 17,000 sanctioned posts.
