After a 16-year-old competitor in Hip Hop India Season 2 made provocative gestures during his performance, actor Malaika Arora took a strong stand against him. Malaika, who judges the program with choreographer-director Remo D’Souza, was clearly upset and reprimanded the participant right away.
On March 14, the program launched on Amazon MX Player. Malaika lost her temper with a participant on the first episode. A video of the incident was taken and has since gone viral on social media.
When 16-year-old Naveen Shah from Uttar Pradesh went on stage for the show’s audition, his performance took an awkward turn. The judge was extremely unhappy and responded sternly when the young contestant made multiple provocative gestures towards Malaika.
After he finished his act, Malaika became upset and said, “Please give me your mother’s phone number. You are a 16-year-old kid. While dancing, he is looking at me and winking, (blowing) flying kisses”.
Remo stepped in and tried to defuse the tension by adding some comedy to the exchange. He asked the competitor in a light-hearted manner if he was more like his father or his mother. His actions were also questioned by other competitors, one of whom stated, “It was right to scold him.”
The contestant’s father was invited on stage when the situation was brought under control. Later on, he was made fun of by both Remo and Malaika. “He looks innocent, but he isn’t,” the boy’s father claimed in reference to his son’s actions. All night long, he continues to talk to girls.
The contestant’s actions infuriated and disappointed social media users, with many applauding Malaika for speaking up and pointing out unacceptable gestures. Eleven hip-hop dance acts will be followed in Amazon MX Player’s Hip Hop Season 2, which will provide viewers with access to their journey through personal video diaries and illuminating behind-the-scenes material.
The season is hosted by Wicked Sunny and Manisha Rani. Prior to this program, Malaika served as a judge on several dance reality shows, including India’s Got Talent, Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa, and India’s Best Dancer.
