Mallika Dua’s mother passes away after prolonged battle with Covid-19

Mallika Dua’s mother, Dr. Padmavati Dua popularly known as “Chinna” passes away after a long battle with Covid-19.

Actor-comedian Mallika Dua’s mother, Dr. Padmavati Dua died after a long battle with COVID-19.  She was the wife of senior journalist, Vinod Dua.

Dr. Padmavati Dua was well-known amongst her 40,000 followers on Instagram and was popularly known as Chinna Dua. She was adorned for her choice of sarees and often shared pictures in her latest outfits with her followers.

Several well-known personalities from the media and film industry took to their social media accounts to pay their respects to Dr. Dua and convey their heartfelt condolences to the family.

Actor and Politician, Bina Kak took to Instagram to share a picture of Chinna and captioned it, “You suffered a lot dear Chinna ..Now RIP Much love.”

On 15th May, Dr. Dua via a post on Instagram shared the news of her contracting the virus after having difficulty in breathing. She was admitted to St. Stephens Hospital but when her condition worsened she wasn’t able to secure an ICU bed for herself. Dr. Dua was later shifted to Medanta along with her husband who also contracted the virus with her. Whilst he husband required intermittent oxygen and gradually got better, Dr. Dua was on 15 litre oxygen with a deteriorating condition.  She concluded her post by saying that she needs everyone’s good wishes, prayers and blessings to get through these tough times.

Chinna frequently appeared in Mallika’s post. Mallika even shared a picture on Mother’s Day, captioning it, ” Happy Mother’s Day my cute girl @chinnadua, please get well soon? The monkeys in the balcony are waiting for you. Plus I really miss throwing tantrums.”
