Man gets hit by car, dragged for 10 meters; expires at Delhi’s Connaught Place

On Sunday, as per PTI officials, a 45-year-old man was killed at Delhi’s Connaught Place after being struck by a car and allegedly dragged for approximately 10 meters. The event happened on September 4.

After the collision, the car’s driver, Shivam Dubey, left the scene and was taken into custody the next day. The police stated that Madhya Pradeshi Dubey went to Connaught Place to see someone and that he rented a car from a friend in Mahipalpur, south Delhi. On Wednesday at approximately 3:25 p.m., Dubey is said to have hit Lekhraj, a homeless man, while he was crossing the street at the outer circle of Connaught Place, close to Barakhamba Radial Road.

Lekhraj reportedly got stuck beneath the automobile’s wheels, but Dubey allegedly continued driving the car, according to an unnamed officer who spoke to PTI. Dubey allegedly left the 45-year-old on the road after dragging him for around ten meters. After being brought to the hospital, the doctors confirmed him dead.

According to the authorities, Dubey gave his companion back the automobile following the incident. The cops located the car and its owner with the use of the CCTV footage. The officer stated that Dubey was then taken into custody and registered under the appropriate provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
