Manchester City fan has been found guilty of racially abusing players for their dark complexion during the Manchester derby in 2019 and has been banned from all football grounds in the UK for three years. The supporter named Anthony Burke was charged in March last year and now on Wednesday in the ‘Tameside Magistrates Court’ found him guilty for playing a monkey gesture and noises towards three dark complexed players. further, he was fined 500 pounds.
Sky Sports informed that the City has banned him for life. Reuters is connected to the club for comment. Detective Muldowney of Greater Manchester Police said that appalled the city and the wider football community. No member of society should be a victim of such abuse wherever they are and especially at their place of work. This statement was in regards to Burke’s actions.
The court was told that Burke was sitting in the front row and after borrowing a friend’s ticket to go to the match in which United won 2-1. Mr. Frank Coulsen, a steward at the Etihad, said that it was a volatile atmosphere and likened it to lightening the blue touch paper of a firework. The court heard Burke handed himself to the police and was subsequently arrested and charged.
