Manchester United set to submit third offer of £55m for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount

Manchester United is preparing to make a third bid for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount for around £55 million. The Old Trafford club will also warn that if the offer is not accepted, they would withdraw from negotiations with the Blues.

Chelsea is thought to value the England international at £70m. In any case, United believe that number is excessive because Mount’s contract expires in a year and negotiations over an extension have failed.

Chelsea has already turned down proposals of up to £40 million and £50 million for Mount.

United manager Erik ten Hag wants Mount to be his first summer signing as he attempts to boost his squad following their qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue and United are certain that the player wants to join them at Old Trafford.

Mount, who has 195 appearances and 33 goals for Chelsea since his debut in 2019, missed the conclusion of the domestic season due to injury, which resulted in the Blues finishing in 12th place.

He played a key role in Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final. With Chelsea FC, he also won the UEFA Super Cup and also won Fifa Club World Cup.
