Manchester United at last got to announce the signing of highly sought-after Norwegian striker Rasmus Hojlund following long discussions with Serie A club Atalanta and a challenging transfer season.
On Saturday morning, United agreed to a fee of £64 million, plus £8 million in add-ons, for Hojlund with Atalanta, after having suggested that they would not pay more than £60 million.

After United were discouraged from bidding for Tottenham star Harry Kane, he became the club’s primary striker target.
According to senior United sources, Hojlund is a “rough diamond” who might grow into one of Europe’s finest goal scorers under Erik ten Hag’s guidance.
Manchester United was in need of attacking talent up front, as the club had been unable to find an appropriate consistent strike partner with the likes of talisman England forward, Marcus Rashford, who took up nearly all of the goal-scoring responsibility last season after Cristiano Ronaldo left halfway through the season.
At the age of 20, the attacker has 27 goals in 87 club appearances, including 10 for Atalanta last season in Italy. Hjlund, who is already a senior international, has 6 goals in 6 games for Denmark.
