Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh himself received Chanu at Imphal’s Tikendrajit International Airport. A large number of people and media persons were present at the airport to catch a glimpse of Chanu.

After this, she reached the City Convention Center, where she was honored by Chief Minister Biren Singh where he rewarded her Rs 1 crore. Along with this, She was also given an appointment letter as Additional SP in Manipur. Apart from this, the YAS department honored her with Rs 10 lakh and the education department gifted her Rs 3 lakh.
The Manipur government has also decided to set up a world-level weightlifting academy in the state soon. Along with this, it has also been decided to promote judo athlete Sushila Devi, who went to participate in the Olympics from Manipur. Also, She will be promoted as sub-inspector. Along with this, 25 lakh rupees will also be awarded to her.
