Mardaani 3, featuring Rani Mukerji in the lead role alongside Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad, continues to do well at the box office. The cop action drama, directed by Abhiraj Minawala, added Rs. 45 lakhs to the tally on its third Wednesday, taking the third week’s total to Rs. 5 crore in six days. The film would complete its third week at roughly Rs. 5.50 crore, bringing its total earnings to slightly more than Rs 45 crore.
The cop action thriller will exceed Mardaani 2’s lifetime cume of Rs. 46.30 crore to become the franchise’s highest net grosser. Based on current patterns, the Rani Mukerji film is expected to gross between Rs. 48 and 50 crore.
One of the issues with films recently has been a significant increase in prices. A film that used to cost x a few years ago now costs twice as much, if not three times more. Mardaani 3 performed well in this regard because the picture was made on a tight budget.
While it was double the cost of Mardaani 2, the picture had strong non-theatrical recoveries, thus overall recovery was not an issue. The theatrical recovery will be reasonable at roughly Rs. 25 crore and will result in a successful business.
