Rani Mukerji’s latest film, Mardaani 3, saw a 15% increase on its second Tuesday due to reduced ticket rates. The film grossed an additional Rs. 1.50 crore at the Indian box office, bringing the total cume to Rs. 37.50 crore. The cop action film, directed by Abhiraj Minawala, is likely to reach Rs. 40 crore soon, with its second week grossing between Rs. 14 crore and Rs. 15 crore.
It will battle Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bharadwaj’s O’ Romeo from the third weekend on. If it can hold its own against the new release, the film’s total earnings might reach Rs. 50 crore, which is a good performance for a female-led film. The worldwide gross for Mardaani 3 is expected to be approximately Rs. 65 crore by the end of its theatrical run.
One of the issues with films recently has been a significant increase in prices. A film that used to cost x a few years ago now costs twice as much, if not three times more. Mardaani 3 performed well in this regard because the picture was made on a tight budget.
