
Sensex, Nifty prices surge as indices of the domestic benchmarks finally began the day with gains after reporting losses for the previous five trading sessions.
S&P BSE Sensex jumped 549 points to breach 47,400 while Nifty 50 was just below 14,000. Only two stocks namely Axis Bank and TCS were trading with losses among the 30 Sensex constituents. IndusInd Bank Mahindra & Mahindra were the top gainers. Tata Motors was also up by 4%.
State-owned NALCO will buy back Rs 749 crore worth of shares, DIPAM Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey said on Thursday. The government currently holds 51.50 per cent stake in the company and would tender some shares with regard to its holding.
