Medha Rana cast opposite Varun Dhawan in upcoming film ‘Border 2’

According to Variety, Medha Rana has been cast alongside Varun Dhawan as the female lead in the next Bollywood military movie Border 2. The film, which is a spiritual follow-up to J.P. Dutta’s popular 1997 film Border, has a fresh battle scenario and new characters.

Anurag Singh, who directed Akshay Kumar’s 2019 film Kesari, which was based on the Battle of Saragarhi, is directing this one. Sunny Deol and Diljit Dosanjh are also featured in the movie. Rana was selected since she speaks the local dialect and comes from an Army background.

Bhushan Kumar, the producer, stated, “It was imperative to find someone who could naturally embody the dialect, spirit, and rooted essence of the region.” “Medha impressed the team not just with her raw talent, but with her effortless command over the regional dialect and her emotional range as an actor.” She previously starred in London Files, Friday Night Plan, and Ishq in the Air.

Dutta has a history of directing films depicting military battles and is regarded as Bollywood’s war master. His previous works include Paltan (2018), which is set during the 1967 India-China border conflict, and LOC: Kargil (2003), which reenacted the 1999 Kargil War.

The producers of Border 2 are Nidhi Dutta, Dutta, Krishan Kumar, and Kumar. On January 23, 2026, the movie is scheduled to open in theatres.
