Mehbooba Mufti’s car meets with accident In Anantnag, former J&K CM escapes unhurt

Mehbooba Mufti, the chief of the People Democratic Party (PDP), nearly escaped a car accident in Sangam, Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister’s vehicle crashed with a civilian car near Sangam, according to a police official, who added that Mufti was not injured.  The official stated that a police officer under her security did, however, suffer minor injuries.

According to a PDP official, Mufti is well and has not been injured. Mufti’s daughter, Iltija Mufti, who also serves as the PDP president’s media advisor, confirmed her mother’s safety.

She was heading to Khanabal to meet the victims of a fire incident, but the accident severely damaged her car. She went with her scheduled visit in another car provided by officials.

Omar Abdullah, vice president of the National Conference (NC), expressed relief that Mufti was unharmed but called for an investigation into the accident’s cause.

“Glad to hear that @MehboobaMufti Sahiba escaped injury in what could have been a very serious incident. I expect the government to enquire into the circumstances of the accident. Any gaps in her security that contributed to this accident must be addressed immediately,” Abdullah posted in X.
