Miley Cyrus has spoken out with heartfelt sympathy for those affected by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, drawing on her own painful experience from the 2018 Woolsey Fires when her Malibu home was destroyed. In a post shared by The Miley Cyrus Foundation on Instagram, the singer reflected on the deep emotional toll of witnessing the devastation, sharing a photo of her former home reduced to rubble.
Cyrus expressed the overwhelming sadness of returning to a place once full of warmth and love, only to find it destroyed. She wrote, “My soul aches for those who are experiencing this devastation firsthand and I cry for my city. It’s beyond heartbreaking. Los Angeles represents ‘living the dream, but the reality today is wreckage and destruction.'”
With compassion and a call to action, Cyrus encouraged her followers to support relief efforts, offering links to organizations such as the Malibu Foundation, which she co-founded after the Woolsey Fire. She emphasized the importance of community-wide efforts, both local and global, to help with recovery and healing.
“I am sharing links to organizations that I’m personally supporting and that are helping fight the fires and support survivors, including @malibufoundation that we helped launch in 2018,” Cyrus wrote.
She concluded with a message of hope, stating, “Time, resources, and dedication from inside and outside of our community will heal us, but it hurts deeply for now.”
In 2018, Miley Cyrus and her then-husband Liam Hemsworth were fortunate to escape the fire without harm, though their home was destroyed. She took a moment to thank the first responders who have been tirelessly working to support those affected by the current wildfires. The fires have already caused significant damage, burning thousands of acres and displacing many in Los Angeles.
