The Electric State, an upcoming sci-fi action film from the Russo Brothers, is set to premiere on Netflix on March 14, 2025. Starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, the movie is adapted from Simon Stålenhag’s graphic novel and brings a dystopian twist to its source material.
The story follows Michelle (Brown), an orphaned teenager who sets out on a perilous journey across the American West to find her missing brother. Accompanied by a mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter, she navigates a post-rebellion world where humans and robots alike have suffered great losses.
The official synopsis describes a society fractured after a failed uprising, where robots are stripped of their freedom and humans grow increasingly disconnected from one another. The trailer opens with Michelle mourning after a tragic event, believing her brother was killed—until she receives a cryptic message suggesting he may still be alive.
Alongside Brown and Pratt, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Norman, Giancarlo Esposito, and Stanley Tucci. During a panel at New York Comic Con, Pratt shared his emotional connection to the screenplay, calling the film a rare and original blockbuster-scale project. He also hinted that it could be one of his final major films.
