Russian President Vladimir Putin may visit India next year, diplomatic sources revealed on Tuesday. While both nations are exploring the possibility of the visit, no final decision has been made yet, they added.
The potential visit follows an invitation extended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his talks with President Putin in Moscow in July. During his July 8-9 visit, PM Modi addressed global concerns about India’s close ties with Russia, particularly amid the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
It was stated by PM Modi that peace could not be achieved on the battlefield and solutions to the war could only be found through dialogue. He also mentioned that the pain caused by the conflict was felt by India, especially due to the loss of innocent lives, including children.
The international community was informed that hope had been instilled in Mr. Modi by President Putin’s words and thinking. Additionally, it was noted by President Putin that PM Modi’s attention to pressing issues, including efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis through peaceful means, was appreciated.During the visit, PM Modi was awarded the Russian Order of St. Andrew, the highest state honor of Russia.
