Mohit Suri’s latest romantic drama Saiyaara has struck a chord with audiences, winning praise for its heartfelt storytelling, soulful music and the tender chemistry between lead actors Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. While the film has several moments that tug at the heartstrings, the director has now revealed that one emotional scene affected his young star so deeply that he had to step in and calm him down.
In a conversation with Red FM, Suri recounted how Ahaan was left overwhelmed while shooting a particular sequence, which the team has chosen not to detail to avoid spoilers. “Mujhe sometimes bolna padha isko, ‘Mat ro yaar itna tu yeh scene mein.’ He said, ‘Mujhko bohot bura lag raha hai yaar, sir, I’m feeling very bad she’s saying this.’ I asked, ‘Tu acting nahi kar raha?’ He said, ‘Nahi, main acting nahi kar raha hun.’ I told him, ‘Itna mat ro,’” Suri shared.
The filmmaker explained that the emotional intensity may have been rooted in the actors’ generation, which he feels often experiences fleeting relationships rather than deep, lifelong commitments. “I just think maybe they’ve not met someone who opened up their heart and made promises that last forever, to stand by you no matter what. I think these were just things that were moving them,” he added.
Saiyaara continues to draw audiences with its mix of romance, drama and emotionally charged moments, with Ahaan Panday’s vulnerability on screen adding to the film’s impact.
