But beyond the screen, a surprising real-life parallel has captured fans’ attention, a key moment in the film closely resembles Suri’s own love story with his wife, actor Udita Goswami.
In Saiyaara, Krish Kapoor, played by Ahaan, is put in a tough spot after his girlfriend Vaani (Aneet Padda) faints and is taken to the hospital. Vaani’s mother corners Krish and asks if he intends to marry her daughter. Later, when Krish meets Vaani post-recovery, he proposes, only to be turned down.
This exact situation unfolded in Suri’s life when he proposed to Udita for the first time. She revealed in a throwback interview, “He proposed to me four years back, but at that time, I wasn’t ready. In fact, even he wasn’t ready. He asked me because he really wanted to marry me.” The couple, however, tied the knot in 2013 after dating for seven years.
Udita had also shared that Mohit knew she was ‘the one’ much before they started dating. “He was in the editing studio when my film Paap was being worked on. He saw me there and said, ‘this is the girl I want to marry’.”Now married for 12 years and parents to two children, the couple’s journey is a sweet echo of the love that blooms onscreen in Saiyaara.
