A few days back, a video emerged on Twitter, which featured a man urinating on another man of tribal community. Post the video going viral on the internet, the accused was arrested by the police.
The victim, identified as Dashmat Rawat stated, “Today the government has ensured justice to us, but once all the attention fades away, what will happen to us? I fear for our future.” The incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district.
Dashmat is half-ecstatic and half-terrified ever since he met Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on July 6th. The CM had washed his feet and apologised to him, days after BJP worker Pravesh Shukla was arrested after his video of allegedly urinating on the victim.
Before his meeting with the chief minister, Dashwat was with the Sidhi administration while his wife Asha was worried sick about his whereabouts.
The victim, who is a daily wager earner, his wife, Asha, was hesitant at first, but later, during her interview with The Quint, shared that she learned about the incident when her husband did not return home on the night of July 3rd.
