MUMBAI: 16-year-old kidnaped, raped, and injected with Aphrodisiacs; 4 arrested

16-year-old, daughter of a businessman, has alleged that she was sexually assaulted and forced to consume aphrodisiacs by neighbours.

In Andheri (Mumbai), four people have been arrested in connection with the rape and kidnap of a minor.

The 16-year-old junior college student is the daughter of a businessman, has alleged that a couple from the neighbourhood had forced her to consume aphrodisiacs in the form of tablets and injection. The neighbour, Mehraj Khan, allegedly sexually assaulted her in the presence and knowledge of his wife.

She also claimed that this happened over the last eight years. The couple, howsoever, refuted these allegations.

Whilst, the other two arrested were her paternal uncle and his 19-year-old son.

The cousin who allegedly “got into a relationship” with the minor after she got in touch with him for help, as stated in the complaints. She was also taken to UP by the boy’s father who had planned to get her married with the intention to extract money from the girl’s family.

In a 27-page note found by the officials from Amboli police station, which was allegedly written by the girl to her parents. A police official said, “The note written by the survivor narrates that she got addicted to the tablets. It also mentions that the neighbours threatened her by telling her that he had a video clip of the sexual act and started blackmailing her…. She eventually went into depression.” The police officer said that she then contacted the cousin from Uttar Pradesh for his help.

In the girl’s statement to the police, she alleged that she was taken to UP where the said cousin got into a relationship with her which lasted over a month, and “My uncle told me that my cousin would marry me.”

Based on a kidnap case filed by the girl’s father; The Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishekh Trimukhe and his team comprising Senior Inspector Someshwar Kamte, Inspector Abdul Rauf Shaikh travelled to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and rescued the girl from Amethi.

On Saturday, her cousin and uncle were arrested, and the neighbourhood couple are under police custody along with the earlier mentioned arrested relatives.

In 2019, over 32559 rape cases were registered across India, according to a report of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). 88 rape cases on a daily basis were recorded. Of those lives, 30165 rape cases were committed by perpetrators known by the victims. The share of victims who were minors were 15.4%.

Well these data are not just numbers, these are actual lives of the women of India. One rape case report was made every 16 minutes in 2019. Out of which most of the cases go unreported in India.
