 
									Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to secure their four key Indian players—Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav—along with young talent Tilak Varma, ahead of the highly anticipated IPL 2025 mega auction. This core retention ensures MI maintains a strong foundation, even as they navigate the auction strategy with an INR 120 crore purse, of which INR 75 crore will be reserved for the retained players.
Despite a challenging 2024 season, the MI management’s commitment to their established players reflects their long-term vision, positioning MI to bounce back stronger in the upcoming season.
The IPL 2025-2027 player retention rules bring significant updates. Each team’s auction purse has been increased to ₹120 crore. For retaining players, franchises can spend up to ₹75 crore on five key players, which includes specific retention prices:
- Player 1: ₹18 crore
- Player 2: ₹14 crore
- Player 3: ₹11 crore
- Player 4: ₹18 crore
- Player 5: ₹14 crore
Additionally, retaining an uncapped player costs ₹4 crore.
