In a huge relief for the daily passengers, Mumbai local trains will be resuming for all commuters from February 1. However, commuters will not be able to travel between 7am to 12 in the morning and 4pm to 9pm in the evening.
The trains will run between 12 noon and 4 pm and then after 9 pm, as ordered by the CM, Uddhav Thackeray in association with the Traffic Control Department.
As of now, the Western and Central lines are only open for commuters who come under essential services. Women are allowed to avail the services freely during peak hours.
For the first time in 46 years, Indian Railway network, including Mumbai’s lifeline, the suburban trains, which ferried 80 lakh passengers had seen a complete shutdown to avoid the transmission of coronavirus, since March. Presently, only 20 lakh passengers are travelling on local trains.
