Myanmar security forces used tear gas and stun grenades on protestors in Yangon on Saturday, March 6. This happened just a few hours after the U.S envoy told the Security Council to take action against the ruling junta for the killings of protesters.
“How much more can we allow the Myanmar military to get away with? This council must be resolute and coherent in putting the security forces on notice and standing with the people of Myanmar firmly, in support of the clear November election results,” Special Envoy Christine Schraner Burgener U.N. Security Council on Friday.
According to the U.N, more than 50 protestors were killed of which 38 were killed on Wednesday, March 3. The protestors are demanding the release of Suu Kyi.
