Myanmar protest: 2 killed in Mandalay as junta open fires

Two people were killed when security forces opened fire at protesters in Myanmar’s Mandalay city against a military coup on Saturday. At least twenty people were injured during the incident.

Live ammunition was used to scatter the protestors by the police. The protestors at a shipyard started flinging rocks to stop the arrest of anti-coup marine staff. Hundreds had accumulated for the convention at a shipyard in Myanmar’s second-biggest city. The military responded by opening fire.

The country has been protesting since the military took over and arrested civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi on February 1. Authorities have used tear gas, water cannon, and rubber bullets to deploy peaceful rallies by protestors.
