American supernatural drama television series Manifest has been canceled by the host network NBC after its successful run for three seasons. The decision was taken on Monday, just hours before the options on the cast were about to expire the next day, Tuesday. The show has also been going strong on Netflix, where it has been in the number one position in the top ten streamers in the United States for the past three days.
The series, which was shot in a single-camera format, had gained produced favorable ratings from critics and audiences alike, particularly during its first season, which also saw the addition of three episodes. The series has a star cast that includes Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor. Recurring characters include Alfredo Narciso, Victoria Cartagena, Adriane Lenox, Daniel Sunjata, Francesca Faridany, Shirley Rumierk, Elizabeth Marvel, Maryann Plunkett, Ellen Tamaki, Garrett Wareing, and others.
The series, which is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, was created by Jeff Rake and was initially originally sold with a six-season plan. The series is executive produced by creator Rake, Robert Zemeckis, Jack Rapke, Jacqueline Levine, David Frankel, Joe Chappelle, and Len Goldstein, with producers Cathy Frank, Laura Putney, Margaret Easley, Harvey Waldman, and Marta Gené Camps. Premiering in September 2018, Manifest tells the story of the crew and passengers of a commercial airplane who suddenly reappear after being presumed dead for half a decade. As they may their way into society, the members eventually discover that their family members and friends are not the same as they used to be before their disappearance — and neither are they, as they begin to experience visions of the future, known as “callings”.
