Actress Neena Gupta, recently completed and published her autobiography, ‘Sach Kahun toh’. In the book, she mentioned various inside stories from Bollywood along with an elaborative description of her personal life.
In one of such part of her book, she mentioned an incident with director, Subash Ghai that made her feel embarrassed. During the shoot of her song, ‘Choli ke piche kya hai’, director Subhash Ghai was not happy with her look. She had to try different costumes in order to get an approval.
The director used to say, ‘kuchh bharo’ by which me meant that the choli should be filled. Neena was so embarrassed by the situation that she didn’t shoot that day. The next day, she was given a Gujrati outfit to wear with a heavily padded bra. The director approved and the shooting took place. Neena also mentioned that Subash Ghai wants perfection in his movies and that is what makes him a good director.
The song was from the movie, Khalnayak, featuring Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff.
The song ‘Choli ke pichhe kya hai’ is one of the famous songs in the Bollywood and is remembered for its catchy tune. Neena agreed for this song because she liked it, however she wasn’t happy with her role in it. Neena Gupta talked about various such incidents when she did some roles that she didn’t like, during her struggling days. While talking to Film Companion, she said, “I am happy to say ‘no’ to the projects now.”
Neena Gupta made a great comeback in the film industry through Badhaai Ho (2018), directed by Amit Sharma. She was recently seen in ‘Sardar ka Grandson’ with Arjun Kapoor.
