Neha Dhupia opens up about anxiety, dry spells and the uncertainty of surviving in Bollywood

At a time when success stories often dominate conversations around Bollywood, Neha Dhupia has offered a rare and honest look at the quieter struggles behind the spotlight. The actor, currently receiving appreciation for her performances in Netflix’s Single Papa and YouTube’s Perfect Family, admitted that professional momentum does not always translate into emotional security.

In a recent conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Neha spoke about the anxiety that sets in during periods of inactivity. She revealed that even after spending nearly 20 years in the industry, the fear of not knowing when the next opportunity will come never fully disappears. According to her, moments of silence between projects can feel overwhelming, often leaving her feeling isolated.

Neha described the emotional toll of watching others work while she waits on the sidelines. While newcomers experience similar uncertainty, she believes the difference lies in experience. Having faced such phases repeatedly, she now knows how to navigate them, even though the anxiety remains.

The actor also reflected on how careers in Bollywood can take unexpected turns, drawing a comparison with Akshaye Khanna. Known for being selective about his roles, Akshaye recently earned praise for his performance as Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar (2025). Neha said his career trajectory makes her reflect on patience and long gaps between projects.

For Neha, however, continuity matters. She emphasised that work must lead to more work, adding that without conversion, praise alone holds little value. Despite the uncertainty, she maintained faith in cinema, expressing hope that dedication will eventually be rewarded.
