‘Neither tired, nor retired, I’m fire’: Sharad Pawar quotes Atal Bihari Vajpayee on retirement

Post a brutal rebellion led by his nephew Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar has launched a new mission to re-develop the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). In response to Ajit Pawar’s jibe at his retirement age, the veteran politician stated from Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s quote on Saturday and said, “I’m not tired, I’m not tired, I’m fire.” He also asserted that all the NCP rebels will be disqualified from the party.

On Wednesday, Ajit Pawar took a jibe at Sharad Pawar’s old age and hinted that the leader should now retire. He stated that every profession has an age of retirement. He emphasised that IAS officers retire at 60, BJP leaders such as LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi retired at 75, allowing the younger generation to rise.

In his response, Sharad Pawar cited example of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai and said, “Do you know at what age Morarji Desai became the prime minister?” He added that he do wish to become the PM or minister of state, but would like to serve the people.

On assertion made by Praful Patel that Sharad Pawar has given all powers to his daughter Supriya Sule, the NCP chief said that it was the party workers’ wish for Supriya to join the politics. He asserted that his daughter won the Lok Sabha polls and Praful Patel was given Union Minister for 10 years. The leader added that Patel lost the Lok Sabha polls and then he was given a Rajya Sabha seat.
