Nepal and China announce revised height of Mt. Everest

The government of Nepal and China have issued a joint statement stating the new height of Mt. Everest. The new official height of Mt. Everest is 8.848.86 meters (29,032 feet) which is higher than previously calculated height by 0.86 m.  Nepal had been working independently on measuring Mt Everest’s height since 2011. The previous height was measured at 8,848 meters (29,028 feet) in 1954. The method used to calculate the height was trigonometric and GPS measurements carried out by Nepal and China separately.
