New Maruti Celerio patent images leaked online

The next generation Celerio has been expected to be based on the fifth generation Heartect platform which answers to the questions of why the car looked bigger than the previous models in the spy images. The wheels of the car also seemed bigger in the size which gives it a raised stance.

The patent images of the next generation Maruti Celerio has been leaked online. The patent drawings have revealed more than seen in camouflaged test mules of the car before.

The new Celerio turns out to be a little bit larger than the older models, although the design of the car has gone through an evolution rather than a revolution. As reported by team-bhp, it was seen in the leaked images that the front had a familiar fascia albeit with reshaped headlamps, grille and a new bumper. Whereas the reprofiled rear end features a new tail lamp cluster and a bumper.

The next generation Celerio has been expected to be based on the fifth generation Heartect platform which answers to the questions of why the car looked bigger than the previous models in the spy images. The wheels of the car also seemed bigger in the size which gives it a raised stance.

There are chances that the car could still be offered with the same set of engines as in the previous models. It could have the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol producing 75 BHP and 90 Nm, where as the higher variants of the model could be offered with a 1.2-litre K-Series motor that can put out 83 BHP and 113 Nm. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT.

The new Celerio will compete with the Tata Tiago and Hyundai Santro in the Indian Market.
